Becky Gooby is a printed textile designer and trained, traditional upholsterer designing for interiors and soft furnishings.
Believing that textiles deserve more substance than a simple prettiness, her designs consider narratives and play with intellectuality. Taking inspiration from scientific diagrams, mechanical drawings and obscure historical figures, she resolves her concepts through established design methods, considering colour, repeat, drape and purpose.
Becky was born in London, and studied Fine Art at Bath School of Art and Design. She completed a Masters Degree in Textile Design at the Sir John Cass School of Art, Media & Design, alongside a three year course in modern and traditional upholstery at the old London School of Furniture (now London Metropolitan).
Becky is currently researching colour management in Digital Textile Printing at the University of the West of England in the Centre for Fine Print Research and is part of the 3D3 Centre for Doctoral Training. Read more about her research here or follow her on Instagram
Combining an artistic train of thought with a desire to create functional, beautiful fabrics, Becky Gooby's designs seek to bring a different aesthetic to your home.
